Disease and treatment of head and neck cancers and congenital malformations frequently result in significant oral impairment and facial disfigurement. The Foundation for Oral Facial Rehabilitation is a government approved 4013c and was established in the spring of 2011 to address these challenges for our patients. The mission of the foundation is to:

(a) Develop and provide free online programs of instruction in Prosthodontics for professionals in Dentistry, Medicine and other allied health professions

(b) Develop new and more effective methods of restoring the oral functions of speech, mastication, swallowing and facial esthetics in patients with major structural deformities

(c) Support the predoctoral and residency programs of the Division of Advanced Prosthodontics, Biomaterials and Hospital Dentistry, UCLA School of Dentistry

The Foundation will accomplish these goals by supporting research, sponsoring scientific meetings, conducting outreach educational programs for professionals in under developed countries and providing up to date, online programs of instruction via its web site, free of charge.

We request your support to enable development and maintenance of online educational programs in Prosthodontics for health professionals throughout the world. These programs will eventually all be made available through the Foundation’s web site and will be free of charge. Our objective is to create the best online programs of instruction available on the internet in Prosthodontics.

We recognize that many dental practitioners and dental laboratory technicians lack the requisite knowledge of the basic principles of prosthodontics for them to provide quality, cost effective services for their patients. In addition, it is difficult if not impossible, for most private practitioners, both here and abroad, to keep abreast of the many changes and innovations in techniques and materials that have occurred in Prosthodontics during the last several years. Many dental practitioners find it difficult to find the time to attend Continuing Education courses and our international colleagues are inhibited by travel and expense issues.

Presently we are prepared to offer lectures in Implant Dentistry, Complete Dentures, Removable Partial Dentures, Esthetic Dentistry and Maxillofacial Prosthetics. We have assembled an impressive list of volunteer faculty from all over the world to provide these programs of instruction. In addition Quintessence Publishing Co. has agreed to publicize the web site and the online programs of instruction in some of their publications. We also plan to publicize the site in variety of other ways, including announcements in dental product publications, dental society newsletters, etc. Our goal is to make these online programs of instruction known and available to as many dental practitioners and allied health professionals in the world as possible.

I appreciate your interest in our Foundation and hope you will be able to help us provide educational opportunities for dentists and allied health professionals. Together, we can raise the standard of Prosthodontic care throughout the world.

Sincerely,

John Beumer III DDS, MS
